Traditional vs Raw
Both methods produce nourishing capsules from your placenta. The difference lies in how the placenta is treated before dehydration. There is no single “right” choice — it comes down to your personal preference and postpartum goals.
Traditional Method
Inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine, your placenta is gently steamed with warming herbs — lemon, ginger, and jalapeño pepper — before being thinly sliced, dehydrated, and ground into capsules.
The steaming step is believed to bring warming, tonifying energy to the remedy, making it a gentle and grounding option. This is our most popular method and the one we recommend for most families.
Raw Method
The placenta is sliced and dehydrated at low temperature without steaming, preserving more of its raw nutrients and hormones in their unaltered state.
Some parents choose the raw method because they prefer a minimally processed approach and want to retain the placenta's full hormonal profile. The raw method typically yields a slightly higher capsule count. It's a wonderful option if you're drawn to a more potent, unmodified preparation.
Everything you need for a nourished postpartum
Placenta Capsules
Your capsules are prepared using your chosen method (Traditional or Raw), hand-filled, and returned in a labeled glass jar. Most placentas yield between 80–200 capsules depending on size.
Renewal Blend Option
A small portion of your capsules can be set aside as a “renewal blend” — reserved for hormonal shifts later in life, such as weaning, returning menstruation, or menopause. Simply let us know when you book.
Birthroot Tincture (Add-On)
A concentrated liquid tincture made from a small piece of your placenta, steeped in high-proof alcohol over several weeks. Taken by dropper and preserved for long-term use. Available as an add-on for $39 per tincture.
Keepsakes & Prints
All packages include your choice of keepsakes: an umbilical cord art piece (shaped into a heart, spiral, letter, or custom form), a hand-pressed placenta “tree of life” print, and an optional commemorative poster. You customize everything through your client portal at your own pace.
